Deuteronomy 31:15-17

¹⁵ The Lord appeared at the Meeting Tent in a pillar of cloud; the pillar of cloud stood over the entrance of the Tent [^Crepresenting the presence of God; Ex. 13:21; 40:34–38]. ¹⁶ And the Lord said to Moses, “You will soon ·die [^Llie down/^Tsleep with your fathers]. Then these people will ·not be loyal to me but will worship [^Lprostitute themselves with] the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will ·leave [abandon; forsake] me, breaking the ·Agreement [Covenant; Treaty] I ·made [^Lcut] with them. ¹⁷ ·Then [^LOn that day] I will become very angry at them, and I will ·leave [abandon; forsake] them. I will ·turn away [^Lhide my face] from them, and they will be ·destroyed [devoured; consumed]. Many terrible things will happen to them. ·Then [^LOn that day] they will say, ‘·It is [^LIs it not…?] because God is not with us that these terrible things are happening.’
